Do you know about the mysterious book sculptor who donates her spectacular book art with little notes "In support of Libraries, Books, Words and Ideas" (...and other things, from "writers" to "all things magic"? She's been anonymously creating these works of art for four years and is now getting ready for one final creation... and she's inviting us to play along by making butterflies and sending them in!
From the artist's call for butterflies:
If you love libraries and think reading matters then please make a butterfly..... and why not make it in memory of someone who loved books and encouraged you to read.
Read her full call for butterflies here! (I love how she ends with this wish: "And may the butterfly of joy land on your nose. xxx")
She even wrote out this easy-to-follow guide to making butterflies...
Fly your butterflies to the artist at this address:
The Butterfly Collection
c/o 1 Haddington Place
Edinburgh, UK, EH7 4AE
All butterflies should fly to this spot and arrive no later than July 31, 2015!
Spread the word! Share this post, the artist's call for submissions, and also this cool video invitation to the project from Butterflies on the Move!
I'm a HUGE fan of this artist! Here I am with my copy of Gifted: The Tale of 10 Mysterious Book Sculptures, featuring her first 10 secret sculpture gifts!
The book was put together by The Scottish Poetry Library with the anonymous consent and help of the artist. The photos are by Chris Scott.
If you want these fun, creative images to hold right in your paws, you can order this special book. You can also find later works by the artist online and scroll through the 10 images in this book in the online book below (which generously invites us to share a look at the book sculpture tour of 2012)!
You can follow the artist on Twitter at @Freetofly and follow Butterflies on the Move on Facebook!
Now let's make some butterflies and share them "in support of Libraries, Books, Words and Ideas"!
